COLORS - where would we be without them? Can you imagine living in a world with only shades of black and white? Down through the ages, different colors have been associated with many social customs, for instance the color associated with grieving; wearing black in the west is appropriate, while in China the color whit
e shows respect for the departed.
In the art of Heraldry, (family crests) colors all have specific meanings; where on the shield the colors are place, what shade is use and what symbols associated with them, all have meaning.

Weddings have their color traditions also, white bridal dresses, signifying purity in Western cultures and in Asian countries, brides can wear red, which is symbolic for happiness.
We are attracted to color by our emotions and subconscious longings and needs, which tell a lot about ourselves. Color energies affect our mood, health and sense of wellbeing. The color blue is an appetite suppressant, so if you are dieting, eat in a blue room. Too much time in a blue room may bring our mood too low, so bring in the Yellow - a mood elevator.
Color plays a vital role in religious/ spiritual practices also. God sealed his covenant with Noah in color, the RAINBOW. At Easter time, green represents new life, white for resurrection, and purple for the Royal Priesthood of Christ. Red is the dominate color during Chinese New Year. We worship and celebrate with color!
Eve
ryone enjoys the surprise of a chance encounter with one of these breathtaking spectacles. The color spectrum we see in the rainbow is comprised of a mixture of seven colors:
red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
When the spectrum colors blend, we get white light. Scripture describes God as light. If we claim him as our Heavenly Father, we are children of light (I John 1:5-7). Jesus said he is the light of the world. In the city of the New Jerusalem, there is no need for the sun or moon, because the Lamb is the light (Rev. 21:23).
No wonder it is called the city of PEACE, “The Lord is There.”
The stones of the New Jerusalem represent the complete color spectrum. Red - Carnelian, Orange - Jacinth and Topaz, Yellow - Beryl, Green - Emerald, Peridot, and Chrysoprase, Blue - Chalcedony, Indigo - Sapphire (in some translations Sapphire is Lapis Lazuli) Violet - Amethyst. Jasper and Sardonyx are of the earth tones, brown, reddish-brown, tan, black, striped and patterned.
Color plays a huge part in our well-being, be it cultural, religious or our personal choices.
